January 7, 2009 ...  A little more progress was made today on my left leading edge. I finished cleaning the inside surfaces with a Scotchbrite pad, and wiped it down with M.E.K. (Methylethylketone).

January 8, 2009 ...  I polished the landing light area, and removed a couple small dimples in the skin which happened by accident, (hence, the reason I installed the hoist). I successfully removed the dimples using my heat gun and some dry ice.  If you are interested in the technique I used to do that, feel free to email me, and I will send you the instructions. It is simple and it works great!

I then masked off the polished landing light area, and sprayed the inside of the leading edge with a light coat of self-etching primer

January 9, 2009 ...  I am finally ready to install the left leading edge!   I am starting with the top, so I Clecoed the upper leading edge skin to the ribs. I am using the wingnut style of Clecos to secure the skin to the ribs on the very front holes.  Then, starting from the center of the spar and working forward and outward, I begin riveting the leading edge. I finished my shop time with about one third of the top of the leading edge riveted.

January 10, 2009 ...  Today I finished riveting the top of trhe left leading edge (except for the doubler area and the forward most rivets). I left the wingnut style of Clecos in those holes. They really help with holding the leading edge to the contour of the rbs. I then turned the wing over and using cargo straps and 1X4's pulled the  bottomside of the leading edge into place, and secured it with Clecoes, (except the forward two holes on each rib.) After riveting most of the bottom of the leading edge, I turned the wing back over again.
