December 30, 2008 ... I only managed to squeeze in a few hours of wing time today, but made fairly good progress.
I dimpled the left wing leading edge ribs and Installed the last of the landing light reflectors. I then pulled all of the wiring
for the landing light and NAV/Strobe lights, and installed Molex connectors.
January 3, 2009 ... OOPS! I mis-drilled the left landing light lense and had to make another one. I also drilled the lower
landing light bracket to install the nutplates.
January 4, 2009 ... I finished drilling the lower landing light lense mount bracket and installed it on the lense. I riveted
the bracket using the same CCC-32 rivets that connected the nutplates. The Lexan is great to work with; it is not nearly as
tempermental as Plexi-glass so riveting through the Lexan was no problem. I will be using #6 screws to mount the lense.
Bottom Landing Light bracket installed.
January 5, 2009 ... 'More work today on the left landing light lense. I fit and riveted the upper mount bracket. Then came
the great moment of truth ... Will the lense fit properly into the leading edge? ....
Shazammm! It fits PERFECTLY!
All I have
to do now is get the leading edge skin dimpled and I will be ready to rivet it to the wing.
January 6, 2009 ... You may notice that I am picking up the pace on my project a little bit. I am sprinting towards finish line
on the left wing. I am quite anxious to have the left wing done and be moving on to the right. I devoted all of my shop time
today to dimpling the leading edge skin and cleaning up the inside with a Scotchbrite pad..
Mission Accomplished!
