Building a Dream!

November 15, 2008 ... Today, my wing time was very productive. With the upper and lower skins riveted in place, I am now
concentrating my attention on the forward wing area; specifically the landing light. The drawings don't really offer any suggestions
for the landing light, probably because of the vast array of installations possible. I started by installing the tubing through
the rubber grommets in my forward wing ribs. That will serve as conduit for my landing light wiring, and NAV/Strobe units. I then
spent the rest of my time fabricating and polishing the parts which will make up the mount plate for my AeroSun LED light unit.
I am installing the landing light between ribs #10 and 11.

Top side ready for rivets!
Before riveting the top wing skin, I installed the tiedown bracket and the aileron control rods. Notice the packing foam which holds the rods steady at the rear spar and root rib.
November, 8, 2008 ... The big day has finally arrived! I set my wing on the stands, shimmed it up to remove any twists using
the plumbob method, and riveted on the bottom wing skin. I then set the wing back on the worktable (padded stands) and attached the
aileron control rods.
November 10 & 11, 2008 ... I set the wing structure back on the stands again, set it "true" with the plumbob and shims
and riveted on the top skins. I couldn't be happier with the way this is turning out.
All of the hardwork of meticulous measuring
and fitting had it's reward today in a perfect fit and finish.
