October 27, 2008 ...

These photos show the extra material (overhang) that I left on the aileron . With the aileron hinged in place, I was able to draw the exact angle of the rear spar which will allow me to perfectly align the aileron tip with the wingtip. The few hours I was able to squeeze in today were devoted to fabricating (scratch-building) a new aileron tip.

October 28, 2008 ...

These photos show the aileron after cutting, filing, and sanding the outboard end to shape. I also scratch-built and installed the left aileron tip rib today.

November 1, 2008 ... Bryon Stewart, a friend and local RV-7 builder stopped by for a visit today. He was kind enough to updrill all of the rear spar rivet holes for me. While he was doing that, I was deburring the wing skins and ribs, and touch-up sanding the wing skin edges.

November 3, 2008 ... I spent most of my shop time cleaning up the inside of the wing skins, and removing potential "stress risers" with a Scotch-Brite pad. After a good wipe down, I sprayed a light coat of self-etching primer on the inside of the skins.
