September 22 & 23, 2008 ... I devoted a lot of time these last two days to forming the left aileron tip out of .025
aluminum sheeting. The drawings call for the flange to be fluted in a number of places. However, I felt like I could get a better
fit if I made individual tabs for each laser drilled hoe in the wing skins. That required an added amount of deburring, but I think
the fit is much better.
I left some surplus on the front so that I can do a final fit and trim right
before the the wing skins are riveted in place. One thing I found disappointing was the way the factory cut the end of the leading
edge. There will be a small gap that I am going to have to fill.
October 20 & 21 , 2008 ... The last two days have been devoted to dimpling the left upper and lower wing
skins and the ribs; doing a final updrill to #30; deburring the skins and ribs; and putting a light coat of self-etching primer on
the inside of the wing skins.
