March 11, 2008 ...  My "wing"  time today was spent on installing.the rest of the bolts in the root rib brackets and torqueing all of the locknuts on the left wing airframe. I then installed the last of the rivets on the aft root ribs. I think I am ready to have my EAA Advisor come and take a look.
March 17, 2008 ...  The EAA Advisor isn't going to make it by to check out my progress for at least a couple weeks. But that's no problem as there is always more to do. So, today I spent the day deburring the forward ribs for the right wing (#5 -  #13). I then cleaned the ribs with Alumi-prep and alodined them.
March 24, 2008 ...  Today I concentrated on deburring and cleaning and alodining the aft ribs (#5 - #13) for the right wing.  This should really speed up the assembly of the right wing when the time comes.
March 25, 2008 ...  To keep the wheels of progress rolling I pulled out all of the parts for the left and right flaps. This part of my project should move along fairly quick. The kit provides the flap skins and ribs pre-formed. The Flap Drive Plate also comes pre-made and laser pre-drilled. I spent the biggest part of my shop time deburring updrilling, ,and alodining the flap drive plates and a few  of the ribs. I then rtiveted  the drive plates to the ribs. 'Pretty straight forward stuff!
March 29, - April1 2008 ...  I finished alodining the flap ribs today. The inboard end of the flaps get a compound angle cut. This is actually the most difficult part of the flap assembly (such as it is.)  I made the angle cut on the right flap and dressed the edges with a file.
March 31 - April 2, 2008 ...  My wing time was very productive the last few days. I fit the ribs to the right flap and pre-drilled everything. I deviated from the drawings slightly with the way I installed the inboard rib (which has the flap  drive plate). The drawings show a large cutout which allows plenty of room to slide the rib into place.  I don't really care for the way that looks. So, using my pneumatic cut off and a file, I carefully formed a slot that the flap drive plate would fit through. I think it it makes a clean looking installation and I can't see it hindering the operation or installation of the flaps in any way .    After getting the ribs fit and pre-drilled, I fit and pre-drilled the flap hinge.  I ended my little blast of productivity by getting the flap skin and ribs dimpled as I am using flush rivets.
