July 7, 2007 ... While I was out in my shop fabricating web spacers, a couple future aviators came by to see how my aircraft
project was progressing. On the left is Averey; he has the look of an airline pilot, and Cody (on the right) has the look of
a fighter pilot. (No ... don't worry ...neither drill has power to it!)
July 16, 2007 ... I made a lot of progress today. Web spacers for the right wing are completed and I deburred all of the
Right Wing spar webs and brackets. I then went over each part verifying that all of the holes were updrilled and countersunk
according to the plans.
July 21, 2007 ... All of the spar web parts received a good cleaning with a Scotch-Brite pad, M.E.K., and Alumi-prep.
I then treated all of the right spar web parts with Alodine 1201. (Yep ... Even the long one!) I won't bore you with all of the details
on how I succeeded in alodining the Main Spar Web.If you are curious, or interested in doing the same, email me and I will gladly
pass on my "trade secrets." I finished up the day, re-assembling the right spar with Clecos, and installing most of the bolts where
the plans call for them. I think I am finally ready to rivet the right spar!
