March 5, 2007 ... I spent the biggest part of my shop time deburring the spar web pieces ('Lots of holes!) but did
not finish them completely. I decided to pull my spar caps completely out of the shipping tube, so I can get a feel for how things
will eventually go together. To my surprize, they were machined, but not finished and anodized. After contacting several builders,
it became evident that Sonex is no longer shipping them that way. I contacted Sonex Tech support and they confirmed the fact. Whether
you receive them in the kit, or order them for a scratch-build project, they will come machined but not deburred or anodized.
The photo shows how I received my spar caps (top photo), and how all of my spar caps will look after deburring and clean-up (bottom
photo, bottom spar cap). As you can see, I have quite a bit of work to do on these to clean them up.
March 17, 2007 ... 'Lots of family stuff going on the last couple weeks. So I haven't been able to get very much "wing
time." Made some progress on de-burring and cleaning the spar caps, but that's about it for today..
March 20, 2007 ... I finally got a chance to spend a few hours in the shop today. I did some more deburring and clean-up
of the spar caps. Then, I took a little break from that to fabricate all four of the Root Rib Attach Brackets. I took my time
with those as there are lots of angled cuts and some very exact bends. The inside cuts and pre-drilled holes will come later.
