February 21, 2007 ... UPS delivered my replacement channel today, so I went right to work, fabricating the outer rear
spar pieces that I botched up before. This time I was a lot more careful. Both parts turned out much better. This is a photo of the
left side; the right side mirrors the left.
February 24, 2007 ... This photo shows the completed right rear wing spar. However, both rear wing spars are fully
assembled now. I rechecked all of my measurements, and everything is perfectly in accordance with the drawings.
February 27, 2007 ... I made the spar stiffener brackets and cut out the wing mount blocks. I didn't drill the
holes in the mount blocks quite yet. I am still planning my strategy on that to obtain the best accuracy. I have been refering
to several builder websites and gleaning some great tips which should help. I also made the tiedown mount brackets. All of these parts
were fairly easy to make.
March 3, 2007 ... I fabricated the lower spar angles. These took the majority of my shop time today, as there is plenty
of cutting, drilling, and filing to be done. By the way, I found that the drawings call for these parts to be made from 2 X 2 X 3/16
angle material. However, I discovered that the airframe kit "Parts List" specifies that these be made from 2.5 X 2.5 X 3/16 angle.
The kit actually provides the wider angle material for these parts.
