February 10, 2007 ... I began working on the wings today, and have specifically started with the parts for the rear
spar assembly. I fabricated the Root Rib Angles, and started pre-drilling and deburring some of the parts provided by the factory.
I also began fabrication of the Outboard Rear Spar parts.
February 11, 2007 ... I finished pre-drilling, and deburring the right Outboard Rear Spar. I also fabricated,
pre-drilled, and deburred the main Rear Spar (right side). After alodining the parts I worked on yesterday, I riveted the parts to
the right Outboard Rear Spar. It is ready to be spliced to the main rear spar.
February 17, 2007 ... I riveted the right Outboard Spar to the main spar and was looking everything over when I
discovered a BIG mistake that I made while pre-drilling the Outboard Spar channel last week. While locating the rib holes
(6
19/32 inches from the squared end of the spar), I apparently measured in the 6 inches, but forgot to include the 19/32. So I had to
drill out the rivets and I will be fabricating a new one, along with the Left Outboard Spar piece I accidently botched up last week.
(I won't bore you with that story!) I guess I wasn't running on all cylinders! The mistakes cost me about
$12.00 in parts, but taught me a lesson which was worth a thousand times more ...
Measure, measure, and re-measure!
February 20, 2007 ... The replacement spar channel material will not be delivered until tomorrow. So, I finished fabricating
and assembling the inboard parts to the rear, right wing spar, and began fabrication of the Left Rear Spar.. I think the spacer pieces
are the smallest parts I have had to fabricate so far! The bottom photos show details of the inboard end of the right rear
spar assembled.
