September 28, 2006 ... I wanted to keep the elevators as straight and level as possible so that I would be able to accurately
measure and cut them to the proper width. I fastened a 6 foot piece of 1 X 1 inch aluminum channel stock(yellow arrow)
to my bench top. To keep the elevator control horn firmly set inside the elevators, I mounted a block (red arrow) to my bench top.
I am sure that further adjustments will be needed in the final fitting stage. But at least this will get me very close to the finished
dimensions.
December 27, 2006 ... While my epoxy resin was drying on the fiberglass tip for my vertical stabilizer, I pre-drilled and
deburred the elevator ribs and dimpled for the countersink rivets. This is the rib set for the elevator (right side) after pre-drilling,
deburring, counter-sinking, up drilling, and priming.
